How Can the Right Baby Bottle Help Reduce Colic?

March 20, 2021 By Stacey Leave a Comment

New parents, who have recently welcomed their little bundle of joy home, are recipients of a barrage of tips and advice from well-wishers. Don’t feed this to your baby, this is great for the baby, this is an absolute no-no for the baby. New parents can find innumerable tips on many baby-related issues; however, there is one minute, yet oft-neglected issue that does not come up in conversations—crying.

Many assume that crying is second nature to babies. New parents are told to brace themselves for sleepless nights because the baby will be wailing all night. Now, this is not completely untrue information, but it is exaggerated for sure.

Since the baby does not have the ability to talk, crying is the only way the baby will communicate with its caregivers. If the baby is sleepy, it will cry; if it is hungry, it will cry; if the baby is uneasy, it will cry. As new parents or caregivers, you will have to brace yourselves for a lot of crying; however, there is also reason to be mindful of the baby’s cries. If the baby is screaming more than crying or crying uncontrollably, it is often referred to as colic.
Fret not; it is not a disease. It is a term used for excessive crying in babies. Hour-long (three hours a day, occurring at least three days a week, for three weeks in a row) cries may be diagnosed as colic. Health professionals are unsure about what factors exactly cause colic; however, many theories point to immature digestive systems, hunger, gas, overfeeding, and infant acid reflux as factors contributing to colic.

Now, certainly, one may not wait for over a month of loud, unstoppable wailing to visit the doctor. There are a couple of characteristics that can help new parents distinguish between normal crying and colic. Firstly, a normal bout of crying may last for a few minutes and can be easily soothed with handling or feeding. Colic episodes, however, can go on for hours. Secondly, the nature of crying in colic is sharper, to the point of wailing. Lastly, colicky babies are extremely difficult to calm. No amount of snuggles, kisses, or back rubs can calm down a colicky baby.

As explained before, tummy troubles have been mainly thought of as colic-causing culprits. Now, tummy troubles are introduced due to various reasons; however, one common reason attributed to an upset stomach is improper mixing of the baby bottle.

A manually mixed baby bottle (mixed rigorously shaking the bottle) introduces a countless amount of air bubbles in the bottle. They can even be seen at the rim of the liquid. When the baby swallows these many air bubbles, it makes the baby gassy and cranky. Let us not forget, the added efforts in burping the baby.

This is where anti colic baby bottles step in.

Anti colic bottles are simplistic yet revolutionary. Essentially, they are baby bottles with a high-quality mixer attached at the bottom and a speed-controlled nipple. The bottles are designed to reduce the effective amount of air bubbles introduced in the bottle and to decrease the speed of feeding. Naturally, the lesser the air bubbles the baby swallows, the lesser the gassiness felt by the baby, in turn, lesser crankiness and crying.

With excessive gas and overfeeding out of the way, colic is tackled even before it could disturb the calmness of your home.

With all the essential information readily available to you, now, wait no more to get your hands on the best anti colic baby bottles. Made for parents who are on the go, anti colic baby bottles introduce convenience, ease, and efficiency in the baby care regime.
