With bottles, you can feed your baby anytime and anywhere. You don’t need to look for a private place to feed your baby if you are out in public.

There are no diet restrictions.

Women who breastfeed their kids need to restrict their diet so as to not affect the quality of the breast milk. Very spicy or acidic foods can make breast milk less palatable for babies and cause indigestion in them when consumed. When women bottle-feed their babies, they can eat as per their preferences.

There is no risk from mother’s medication use.

Many women need to forgo taking medicines they need if they are breastfeeding their babies. Many medicines can be harmful to babies. If the mother is on those medications, it can easily seep into breast milk and cause health problems in their newborns.

Bottle feeding, thus, is also helpful for the mothers’ health. If a new mother requires medicines for post-partum depression or any other condition; she can take it without worrying about it affecting the quality of her breast milk.

The Right Baby Bottles

To take full advantage of bottle feeding your baby; you need the right bottle. You can’t simply use any bottle for newborns. Babies get colic very easily and one of the reasons attributed to it is the air ingested through the food. The air bubbles created when mixing the formula can cause gas or indigestion in babies; causing them to cry incessantly for hours or days on end (colic).

The best baby bottles for newborns are made from safe materials, anti-colic, and easy to use. You can buy anti colic baby bottles that come equipped with a blender and the right nipple shape. The blender inside the bottle offers an easy and effective way to ensure that no air bubbles remain inside the food. Blended food is also easier for babies to consume. Anti-colic bottles also have a vent system to remove air trapped inside the food.

When buying a bottle for your baby, ensure that the silicone nipple is shaped as close to the mother’s natural nipple shape as possible. The right shape will help your baby to latch onto the nipple easily. Also ensure that you can buy the nipples separately with different flow options such as slow, medium, and fast.  The bottle should be made from materials not containing toxic chemicals such as BPA or phthalates. It should be comfortable to hold and must not be slippery when grasped. Anti-colic bottles with blenders are also perfect to feed stored breast milk as you can easily blend the separated layers of fat and liquid before feeding it to your baby.
